Mary Anne Valad was born on 4 August 1883 in Greenock to Peter Valad (1842-1931) and Sarah Racher (1857-1934). Mary had nine siblings, Paulette (Polly) (1882-18820, Peter (1884-1959), James G (1886-1941), Sarah Jane (b 1888), Albert (1890-1968), Joseph (1892-1968), John Douglas (1892-1921), Franck Andrew (1895-1970) and Emma Margarita Eveline (b 1902).

Mary Anne Valad married Frank Benninger on 8 June 1903 in Bruce County. Francis "Frank" Xavier Benninger was born on 31 January 1877 in Riversdale, Bruce County to Lawrence Joseph Benninger (1834-1922) and Francisco (Frances) Stephen (1854-1935). Frank had twelve siblings, Michael (1875-1936), Margaret (1876-1897), Margaret Elizabeth (b 1878), Josephine Francis (1880-1841), Peter Andrew James (1883-1965), Bernard John (1884-1961), Joseph Henry (1887-1947), Annie  Magdalina (1889-1958), Lawrence (1892-1955), Ellen Cecelia (1894-1965), Cleophas (David) Leander Steven (1896-1965) and Geneva Susan 'Sister Majella'  (1899-1987).

Mary and Frank had eleven children,

Sherman (1907-1964),
Florence Agnes (b 1909),
Clifford (Cliff) (1912-1991),
Raymond Albert (1912-1963),
Anna Ellen (1916-1968),
Melvin Lawrence (1919-1999),

Alma Helena (1922-2001),
Leona Elizabeth (1925-1982) and
Sylvestor Bus Buster (b 1927).

Frank died on 6 December 1958 in Blyth, Ontario and Mary died on 20 April 1968 in Huronview, Ontario.

James G Valad was born on 19 November 1886 in Greenock. He married Elizabeth Mary Esther (Minnie) Cassidy on 15 January 1910 in Teeswater. Minnie was born on 6 March 1888 in Greenock to William W Cassidy (1848-1942) and Bridget Doyle (1853-1938). Minnie had fifteen siblings, Catherine (Kate) (1872-1946), Martin J (1874-1965), John J (1876-1964), William (1877-1964), Richard (1879-1958), Margaret (1879-1963), Daniel (b 1883), James (1883-1969), Joseph (b 1885), Ellen May (1885-1986), Richard (1887-1958), James (1889-1908), Thomas Peter (1891-1943), Patrick Augustine (Gus) (1896-1979) and Jerome Francis (1897-1967).

James and Minnie had three children,

Francis “Jerome” (b 1912),
Eileen (b 1917) and
Donelda (b 1923).

Jerome Valad married Marian ?. He farmed in Holyrood, Bruce County and later moved to Ripley, Lucknow and eventually, Perth, Ontario.

Bridget Doyle was born on 20 June 1853 in Kincardine to Martin Doyle (1817-1880) and Catharine Lawlor (1929-1914). Bridget married William W Cassidy on 10 October 1972 in Formosa, Bruce County. Bridget died in 1938 in Greenock.

Martin J Cassidy was born on 14 March 1874 in Greenock. He married Jane Watson on 10 February 1902 in Greenock. Jane was born on 30 August 1884 in Greenock to Robert Watson (1848-1902) and Isabella Jones (1852-1892). Martin and Jane had nine children,

William Robert (b 1904),
James Thomas (1909-1958),
Harvey Jerome (Henry) (b 1910),
Albert Edward Joseph (b 1913),
Elmer (b 1915),
Hazel Cecelia (1917-1992),
Gerald (b 1919) and
Robert (b 1920).

Martin died in 1965 and Jane died in 1971, both in Greenock.

Margaret Cassidy was born on 25 July 1879 in Greenock. She married Nicholas O’Hagan on 26 November 1901 in Greenock. Nicholas was born on 15 December 1877 in Greenock to Eugene O’Hagan (1841-1897) and Bridget McIntee (1846-1917). Nicholas had seven siblings, Margaret (1871-1914), John (b 1872), Thomas (b 1875), Ann (b 1877), Patrick (b 1879), Helen Bridget (1882-1924) and Mary Jane (b 1884). Margaret and Nicholas had seven children,

Frank (b 1902),
Eugene (b 1903),
Malinda (b 1905),
William (b 1908),
Edna Annie (1909-2001),
Marie (1912-1982) and
Helen Margaret (1918-2005).

Nicholas died on 2 August 1945 in Walkerton, Bruce County and Margaret died on 28 August 1963 also in Walkerton.

Thomas Peter Cassidy was born on 1 March 1891 in Greenock. Thomas does not appear to have married. He died in 1943 in Greenock.

Patrick Augustine (Gus) Cassidy was born on 23 January 1896 in Greenock. Gus enlisted in the 1st Depot Battalion of the CEF on 15 May 1918. He married Rosetta Halk on 6 June 1923 in Formosa, Bruce County. Rosetta was born on 18 May 1896 in Culross to George ((1852-1918) and Mary Seitz (b 1856). Rosetta had eight siblings, John (1878-1930), Annie (b 1880), George (1884-1969), Albin (b 1887), Alexander (1889-1928), Alois (b 1891), Louisa (1894-1976) and William (b 1898).

Gus died in 1979 in Greenock.

Jerome Francis Cassidy was born on 26 November 1897 in Greenock. His occupation was barber when he married Lillian Caroline Brown on 7 February 1925 in Greenock.

Jerome died in 1967 and Lillian in 1985, both in Greenock.

William W Cassidy (1848-1942) was born on 24 April 1848 to William Cassidy (1822-1900) and Margaret O’Regan (b 1824). Following Margaret’s death in about 1858, William Sr married Bridget Clancy (1843-1883). William and Bridget had eleven children including Michael Henry (1873-1936). Michael married Mary Alice Flynn (1875-1925) on 27 July 1897 in Teeswater.

Michael and Mary had two surviving children,

Mary Lugartis (1898-1962) and
Agnes “ Madeline” (1903-1977).

Madeline was born on 24 September 1903 in Greenock. In 1922, Madeline’s sister Mary, married Thomas Stewart (1867-1965) and the couple moved to Ferndale, Oakland, Michigan, USA. Madeline visited her sister in 1930 and married Charles Avery Munn (1895-1972), probably the same year.

Madeline and Charles lived in Detroit, Michigan and they had two children,

Jacqueline (1931-1936) and
Sonja (b 1939).

Charles died on 26 November 1972 in Redford, Wayne, Michigan and Madeline died on 12 March 1977 also in Redford.
