Townsend Scott & Sons, stock brokers, were established in Baltimore, Maryland in 1832 by Townsend Scott III (1802-1879). From 1900, the company occupied purpose built premises at 209 East Fayette Street, Baltimore.

The building survived the Great Baltimore fire of 7/8 February 1904 which destroyed much of central Baltimore including over 1500 buildings.

Townsend Scott III’s son, Rosetter Stockton Scott (1826-1898) continued the stock broking business; as did his son, Townsend F Scott (1895-1988).
