Maggie F Ann (Marguerite) Coles was born on 20 October 1895 in Saskatchewan to George Coles (b 1849) & Margaret Julia (Maggie) Dunlop (b 1857). Marguerite had four sisters, Ida May (b 1883), Mary J (b 1885), Lily Beatrice Alice (b 1888) & Harriet B (Hattie) (b 1893) and one brother, George Dalton (b 1900).
George & Maggie had married on 28 December 1881 in Simcoe, Ontario and they came west to farm initially at St James, Assiniboia and later Moose Jaw. George died some time between 1911 & 1919. Maggie brought up the family by moving to Regina where they lived at 2166 Cornwall Ave until 1921 when they moved to 2135 Osler St.
In 1912, Hattie & Lily branched out and moved to Saskatoon at 401 Ave H South. They initially worked at the Modern Steam Laundry. Later Marguerite joined Hattie at Ross Building, 116 3rd Ave S. Marguerite kept house and Hattie worked as a stenographer for Cockshutt Plow Co.
In 1921, Maggie and Lilly, Hattie, Marguerite and Alfred were living at 2135 Osler St, Regina.
