RUBY MABEL SKINNER née CROSS
Ruby Mabel Cross was born on 20 January 1880 in Melbourne, Quebec to Robert "Henry" Cross (1846-1899) and Mary "Amanda" Parker (1857-1935). Her siblings were: Willard Gilbert (b 1878), Carleton Ernest (1882-1972), Arthur Garfield Henry (1885-1969), Grace Evelyn (1888-1944) and Winnifred Helen (b 1894). Ruby was raised in Melbourne where her father was a mill owner and lumber man.
Ruby married Francis Ephriam (Frank) Skinner on 28 October 1903 in Melbourne. Frank was born on 28 August 1876 in Richmond, Quebec to William Skinner (1839-1922) and Sarah Jane Stimson (1849-1939). His siblings were: Arthur Benjamin William (b 1873) and Mary May (b 1875). Frank was raised in Melbourne. According to his obituary, he graduated in dentistry from McGill University and practiced in Sherbrooke, Quebec until 1912 when he and his family moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Frank had his dental practice at 305 Canada Building c/o 21st St & 1st Ave S and they lived at 434 5th Ave N.
Frank and Ruby had two sons, born in Richmond: Carleton "Lloyd" (1905-1986) and Frank "Leslie" (1911-1987). Both sons became doctors/dentists. The 1916 and 1921 census years found the family living at 434 5th Ave in Saskatoon. Lloyd was in partnership with his father for many years at the Canada Building practice.
Both Ruby and Frank died in Saskatoon and were buried in Woodlawn Cemetery. Frank died on 15 March 1964 and Ruby, 2 November 1978.
