David had two brothers, Morris (1887-1951) & Samuel (1891-1991) and one sister, Minnie (b 1889). The children seem to have travelled to Canada together arriving about 1904/5. Morris as the elder brother was the first to establish himself . He married Annie Gray (1884-1977) on 4 September 1906 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. By 1911, they were living at 36 Kewater St, MacDonald, Manitoba and David & Minnie were living with them.
Between 1911-1913 David was a sailor on the North Atlantic. He married Esther Mitelson/Mickelson on 29 May 1916. Esther was born on 12 June 1889 in Roumania to Michael Mickelson (b 1854) and Beckie (b 1856). Esther had three siblings, John (b 1881), Max (1886-1978) and Michael (b 1895).
David and Esther settled in Winnipeg at 356 Stella Avenue. David worked for CPR as a clerk. David and Esther had three children, Max (1918-1943), Arthur (1917-1997) and Lillian (b 1920). The family lived to 359 Magnus Ave, Winnipeg from 1918 onwards until in 1921 when the family were farming at Gilbert Plains, Manitoba. They subsequently returned to Winnipeg and David worked as a bookkeeper at Bliss Kershner & Co, fur traders. David died on 19 June 1943 in Winnipeg. Subsequently Esther moved to Edmonton, Alberta where she died on 3 September 1962.
Their son Max enlisted in the RCAF in 1941 and was posted to 426 Squadron as a flight sergeant. On a mission on 9 March 1943 his aircraft, a Wellington bomber serial number X3284, was lost without trace. He is commemorated on the Runnymead Memorial, Englefield Green, Surrey, England. See Canadian Virtual War Memorial. Their second son, Arthur also served in the RCAF during WWII.
