DORA MARY ASHLEY

Dora Mary Clinkskill was born on 7 July 1885 in Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of James R. Clinkskill and Dora Babington Taylor. Dora had one brother, James Thomas and seven sisters, Margaret, Grace, Josephine, Louise, Annette, Georgina and Jean.

Dora’s father was mayor of Saskatoon in 1906 and 1911-12. See Wikipedia entry.

Dora married Wyndham Winkler Ashley in 1909 and they lived at 436 Spadina Crescent, later moving to 306 Saskatchewan Crescent W, their home for many years. They had five daughters, Margaret, Grace, Martha Josephine, Ruth Louise and Mary.

Dora’s husband Wyndham Winkler Ashley left a lasting impression on Saskatoon. For 45 years as a member of the Saskatoon Parks Board he championed the planting of trees. W W Ashley Park is named after him. See Wikipedia.

Wyndham died on 20 July 1967 and Dora died on 15 March 1979. They both buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon.
