MATTHEW CLARENCE BROOKS

Matthew “Clarence” Brooks was born on 14 August 1897 in Blyth, Huron County to John James Brooks (1869-1955) and Mary Brandon (1869-1951). Clarence had two siblings, Walter Henry (1903-1964) and Mary Jeanette (b 1907).

Clarence married Agnes (Aggie) Gray on 19 December 1919; his occupation was described as rubber worker. Aggie was born on 7 March 1897 in Wingham, Ontario to Thomas Gray (1852-1942) and Charlotte Cook (1857-1933). Aggie had one sister, Charlotte (1877-1969).

Clarence and Aggie had six children,

John Thomas (1920-2003),
Gertrude Stacey (1923-1999),
Robert (1925-1998),
George Brighton (1928-1986),
Joyce (1932-2000) and
Walter William (1934-1935).

In 1921, Clarence was living in Turnberry, Huron County and employed as a candler in an egg plant.

Clarence died on 20 September 1941 in Wingham and Aggie died in 1972.
