WILLIAM CASEMORE

Candidate 1

William John Casemore was born on 24 May 1887 in Palmerston, Wingham, Huron County to Hugh Casemore (1850-1924) and Margaret English (1852-1928). William had six siblings, Robert (1875-1945), Sarah (1877-1963), Ann Jane (1880-1946), Mary Elizabeth (1884-1962), George Wallace (1891-1940) and Ethel Winifred (1893-1982).

William grew up in Morris and Turnberry on his father’s farm. William enlisted in the CEF on 8 January 1918 in London, Ontario. Nothing further is known of his military service.

William was a moulder at the time of his marriage to Alma Cook on 22 May 1922 in Wingham.

William and Alma lived in Wingham where William worked as a moulder. They had at least one child. William died on 29 December 1963 and Alma died in 1974; both are buried in Wingham Cemetery.

Candidate 2

William J Casemore was born in November 1891 in Albermarle, Bruce County to Robert Jacob Casemore (1862-1936) and Sarah Jane Hooey (1868-1955). William had seven siblings, Beatrice (1885-1954), Susanna (1891-1891), Mary Elizabeth "Maimie" (1897-1967), Albertha Mable (1901-1963), Robert Jacob (Casper) (1904-1970), Cecil (1906-1950) and Clayton Arthur (1910-1962).

William farmed in Hope Bay, Albermarle Twp, Bruce County as did his father and his brothers, Robert Jr, Cecil and Clayton.

No record of a marriage has been found. William died in 1975 and is buried in Edgehill Cemetery, Wiarton, Bruce County.

Candidate 3

William Roy Casemore was born on 4 July 1896 in Kinloss Twp, Bruce County to Jeremiah (Jerry) Casemore (1864-1947) and Margaret Matilda Hunter (1871-1952). William had ten siblings, Alexander B (1894-1929), George Oscar (1898-1964), Jane Marion (1900-1956), Ernest G (1902-1957), Carrol H (b 1904), Carl Hunter (1904-1968), Victor Thornton (1906-1977), Vera Marguerite (1910-1990), Chester Arnold (1911-1982) and Irene.

William enlisted in the 160th OS Battalion on 19 February 1916. He was allocated to “D” Company and following training in Canada would have sailed on SS’Metagama’ from Halifax, Nova Scotia bound for Birkenhead, England. The Battalion spent 1917 in England undergoing further training.

William died in England on 26 July 1918 as a result of an accident. He is buried in the Nottingham Cemetery.
