MARGARET RITCHIE née HENDERSON
Margaret Henderson was born on 7 August 1838 in Waterloo, Ontario to Archibald Henderson (Scotland) and Eleanor Mary (Helen) Tindall (b 1803 England). Margaret had four siblings, Archibald (b 1831 Scotland), Elizabeth (b 1841 Ontario), Mary Ann (1842 Ontario-1931) and Richard (b 1844 Ontario).
Nothing is known of Margaret’s father but by 1861 her mother was a widower and Archibald Jr was the head of the household. They were farming in North Dumfries, Waterloo County.
Margaret married James Ritchie on 5 January 1965 probably in North Dumfries. James was born on 11 November 1839 in Waterloo County to Thomas Ritchie (1813-1884) and Helen Bailie (1815-1868). James had three siblings, Margaret (1839-1879), George (1842-1843) and Charlotte (1848-1848).
Margaret and James had six children,
Thomas (1865-1935),
M Eleanor (b 1867),
Margaret Jane (b 1870),
Jeanette Ann (1872-1938),
Bessie Barrie (b 1876) and
James R Tindall (1879-1972).
James farmed in Howick, Huron County from 1881 onwards. James died on 11 June 1901 and Margaret died on 5 February 1923.
