GEORGE “IVAN” STEEL

George “Ivan” Steel was born on 20 January 1907 in Culross, Bruce County to George Steel (1860-1941) and Catherine (Kate) McKay (1865-1948). Ivan had eight siblings, Charles Edward (1888-1952), John McKay (1890-1976), Mary Jane 'Marie' (1891-1975), Maggie May 'Margaret Mary' 'Mae' (1893-1964), Donalda (1896-1985), Annie (1897-1898), Emma Reid (b 1899), and Ida Florence (b 1901).

George Steel Sr farmed on Concession 8 Lot 24 Culross and later lived in Teeswater.

Ivan was only 27 years of age when he died in a hunting accident on 26 March 1934. He is buried in the Culross-Teeswater Cemetery.
