SYMON FAMILY

Charles Symon was born in Crathie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland on 28 April 1839. He came to Canada in about 1857 and on 1 September 1868 he married Annie Younie in Greenock, Bruce County. Annie was born on 24 March 1846 in Rothes, Moray, Scotland and she had come to Canada in about 1850. Charles and Annie had six children,

Albert John (1869-1947),
James (1871-1950),
Helen Jane (1873-1934),
Edward Charles (1873-1954),
Mary Ann (1877-1881) and
Maria Maver (1880-1932).

Charles died on 11 November 1917 in Walkerton, Bruce County and Annie died on 19 September 1924 in Greenock.

Albert was born on 11 June 1869 in Greenock. Albert worked on the family farm but by 1901 he had branched out as a property agent and was lodging in Palmerston, Wellington County. However by 1911 he had returned to Greenock and was living with his brother, James; he was unemployed at this time. He lived with James and worked as a labourer. Albert died in 1947 in Greenock.

James was born on 19 June 1871 in Greenock. James also worked on the family farm and probably took it over following his father’s death in 1917. James died in 1950 in Greenock.

Helen also lived on the family farm and then with her brother, James. In 1921, Helen and her widowed mother were living together in Walkerton, Bruce County. Helen died on 17 April 1934 in Walkerton.
