Emily Jane Luggar was born in 1876 in Loddiswell, Devon, England, the daughter of John Gillard & Ellen Jane Luggar. Emily had five sisters - three born in England, Roxsine/Rosina Ellen (b 1875), Sarah Louise (b 1878) & Blanch Elizabeth (1881-1959), and two born in Canada, Mande (1884–1957) & Edith May (1890-1967) and four brothers who all died young. John Fawcett (1882-1905) was born in England and the others in Canada - George Henry (1889-1920), William Albert (1893-1911) and Ross Hubert born in May 1896 in Toronto and was killed in action during WWI on 9 April 1917 in Arras, France.
Emily emigrated with her family on SS ‘Circassian’ arriving in Quebec on 18 June 1883.
Emily married David Scott Baxter sometime between 1911 & 1915. David was born in June 1887 in Castlederg, Ireland, the son of James & Sarah Baxter. They had two boys, Douglas (b 1917) and Stanley (b 1920).
They lived at 1111 Ave H, Saskatoon for many years, Emily worked as a clerk before and after the boys were born, latterly for F R MacMillan, the grocery store, where her husband also worked.
In later years they returned to Toronto where David died on 15 January 1946 and Emily died on 4 December 1959.
