Frederick Booth was born on 6 August 1871 in Blackburn, Lancashire, England the son of Josiah & Ann Booth. He had three brothers and a sister. Fred took up his father’s trade of cotton weaver but after his marriage became a commercial traveller in the drapery business.
Fred married Jane Ann Lister in July 1900 and they moved into their own home at 78 Bold St, Blackburn, Lancashire. Jane was born in February 1872 in Blackburn, the daughter of Fergus Lister & Ann Procter. She had three sisters and a brother. Ann & Fred had one daughter, Annie (1901-1977) and two sons, Frederick William (1902-1997) & William (1904-1908).
The family emigrated to Canada, arriving in Montreal on 17 August 1905. Fred was variously employed as a clerk, traveller & stenographer prior to WWI. He served in the military during the war and then found employment with Willson Stationery Co. During this time, the family lived at 310 4th Ave N, Saskatoon.
