GEORGE E WILSON

George E Wilson was born on 28 January 1892 in Bell’s Corner, Ontario to George Alexander Wilson (1865-1957) and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Law (b 1862). It appears he was registered at birth as William Albert Wilson and was then called George E or George E A for the rest of his life.

At first it was thought he may have been a twin as the birth date in the 1901 census and the birth register are identical, but only one child was registered and only George appeared in census records. It is also possible that George’s birth was not registered and his twin died. His siblings were Maud Beatrice (1885-1979), Frances (1887-1917), Walter W (1888-1905), Margaret (Maggie) (b 1890), Thomas Dudley (b 1893), Arthur (b 1894), Clifford (1896-1971), Robert Hackett (1900-1980) and May (b 1903).

Another brother, Willie S (b 1911), appeared in the 1921 census, but this may be William Swan, the son of Frances Wilson who died in 1917. In 1901, the Wilson family was living in Nepean, Ontario, but by 1911 all but the older children were living at 414 Spadina Crescent in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

By 1921 some of the Wilson family had moved to farm land located at 12-36-3-W3 in Blucher RM. In about 1912, George married Mabel (b 1896) and they had at least two children, Lorraine (b 1913) and Jane (b 1916).

In 1916, George and family was at 133 Ave H South and he was a drayman. From 1917 until at least 1929 they lived at 111 Ave J South. During this time George was a teamster and later a contractor in the building trade. In 1932 they were at 130 Ave F and he was once again a teamster. According to George’s father’s obituary, George was living in Prince Albert in 1957. It is not known what happened to any of his family after this.
