CHARLES ERNEST WILSON

Charles Ernest Wilson was born in 1869 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England to William Wilson (b 1937) and Harriett (b 1836). His siblings were George Thomas (b 1861), Alfred Edwin (1867-1874), Frank (1872-1948), Edith (b 1874) and Hannah (b 1876). He was raised in Ecclesfield, Yorkshire, England where his father was a stationary engine driver and Charles was a steam hammer driver in 1891.

In the first quarter of 1894, he married Ruth Annie Goodison who was born in 1868 in Wortley, Yorkshire, England to Alexander Goodison (b 1847) and Elizabeth Oates (1850-1938). Her siblings were Herbert (b 1867), Ernest Walter (1871-1972), Catherine Elizabeth (Kate) (1876-1954) and Ellen (b 1878). Charles and Ruth had two children, Nellie (b 1895) and Howard (b 1908), both born in England.

On 16 April 1913, the Wilson family boarded SS ‘Megantic’ in Liverpool, England and arrived in Portland, Maine on 22 April 1913. Their final destination was Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and their religion was Wesleyan Methodist.

From 1914 to 1917, the family lived at 810 32nd St W and Charles was variously employed at T Eaton Co, A MacDonald Co and as a caretaker in an apartment block.

From 1918 to 1925, they lived at Parkview Apartments, 445 5th Ave N where Charles was the caretaker/janitor. Charles died in Saskatoon on 30 October 1925 and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery. Nothing more could be found about the rest of the family.
