Ruth Irma Boyd was born on 29 October 1903 in Quebec, Canada to John Boyd (1864-1930) & Maria Elizabeth Coulter (1877-1978).
John Boyd grew up in Hinchinbrooke, Quebec, Canada close his mother’s family and took up farming. He subsequently married Maria Elizabeth Coulter in 1902 in Ormstown, Quebec. Ruth was born the next year and when the family moved to Saskatoon, John was employed as a carpenter. In 1911 they were living at 308 20th St but moved to 1006 Eastlake Ave from 1916-1921.
In July 1923 the family travelled via Blaine, Washington to California to join Maria Elizabeth’s sister, Lillie (Mrs E McLelland) at 425 5th Ave N, Los Angeles for a stay of ‘3-4 months’. It is likely they subsequently returned to Sasktoon, but we have not found a record until 1949, when Maria Elizabeth & Lillie, both widowed, were living at 107 Travellers Block, 228 3rd Ave S, Saskatoon.
John died on 15 April 1930 and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon. Elizabeth lived on and died on 14 May 1970 and was buried alongside her late husband.
Their family tree can be found on Ancestry under the title 3rd Ave Boyd 2 Tree.
