Joseph Thomas Bradt was born on 18 June 1869 in Bothwell, Ontario, Canada to Thomas Barton Brandt (1835-1902) & Sara Jane Smith (b 1844). Joseph had three sisters, Nancy E (b 1873), Sarah (b 1874) & Mary Inez (b183) and one brother, Amos Barton Brandt (b 1865).
By the time of his marriage Joseph was a section foreman on the railroad. He married Adelia (Delia) Victoria Stanton on 15 October 1896 in Port Stanley, Elgin, Ontario It was a joint wedding as Delia’s sister Naomi (b 1862) married James Gough (1846-1913), a widower, on the same day. Three weeks later, James Gough’s daughter Sarah (b 1870) married John George Long.
Delia was born on 28 February 1878 in Port Stanley, Elgin, Ontario to William Ferner Stanton (1837-1921) & Huldah McDermond (1942-1922). Their son Lyle Stanton Bradt was born on 22 February 1898 in Kent, Ontario, Canada. Two years later the family was in Port Huron. Saint Clair, Michigan, US where Thomas was a labourer. They didn’t stay in the US for long and were back in Canada in 1906. By 1911, the family was living in Dauphin, Manitoba and Joseph was once again a section foreman on the railroad. In 1916, they had moved yet again and Joseph was a yard foreman in the railroad.

n 1920, the family emigrated to the US permanently, settling in Los Angeles. On 12 August 1930, Lyle applied for naturalization as a US citizen as did his father in 1931 and his mother in 1938.
Lyle married Tillie Wieman around 1937. Tillie was born on 9 October 1895 in George, Lyon, Iowa, USA to Ude Wieman (b 1851) & Tillie Hinricks (b 1857). Lyle & Tillie lived at 1124 W 20th St, Los Angeles, California in 1938 when Lyle worked as a motorman on the railroad. Their son, Lyle Duane Bradt was born on 17 June 1939 in Los Angeles, California. Lyle Sr died on 27 June 1972 in Los Angeles and Tillie died on 28 January 1980 in Los Angeles.
Lyle Jr married Denise Carol Lucas in Nevada on 3 December 1977.
