GRACE EDDINGTON WIGHT

Grace Eddington Wight was born in 1899 in North Berwick, East Lothian, Scotland to Alexander John Wight and Margaret Martin. Her siblings were John Henry (b 1897), Robert Topping (1903-1922), Lily (1907-1978) and Doris (b 1910). In 1901, Grace was living with her family in Dalmeny, West Lothian, Scotland and by 1911 had moved to Alnwick, Northumberland, England.

In August 1912, Margaret, Grace, Robert, Lily and Doris boarded SS ‘Hesperian’ in Glasgow, Scotland and arrived in Montreal, Quebec on 24 August 1912. From there they were destined for Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to join Alexander who was already settled there. From at least 1916 to 1921, the family lived at 620 32nd St W. In 1918 Grace was working as a stenographer for Cockshut Plow and in 1921 was a book keeper.

Sometime after 1921, she married John Hare Wanstall who was born on 19 February 1897 in Liverpool, Lancashire, England to Henry Alfred Arthur Wanstall and Hannah Pears. He enlisted for WWI in Saskatoon on 2 March 1916. He was a linotype operator and printer. Grace died on 11 April 1954 in Saskatoon. John was still alive at the time of her death. Her mother, Margaret Wight who was living in Saskatoon, and two sisters, Mrs. T Bostock and Mrs G Godman both of England also survived her.
