JOHN ROBERT WILSON

This is our best fit for Jon R Wilson despite the anomaly of Jon vs John.

John Robert Wilson was born January 1877 in Bishop Auckland, Durham, England to William and Margaret Wilson. His siblings were Thomas Henry Jackson (half brother - b 1866), Mary Ann Margaret (b 1879), Alice Jane (b 1884) and Elizabeth G (b 1886). He was raised in Gateshead, Winlaton, Durham, England.

He married Margaret Donaldson in Gateshead, Durham in 1900. She was born on 3 April 1880 in Seaton Delavel, Northumberland, England to John Donaldson and Elizabeth Scott. Her siblings were Agnes (b 1875), Eleanor (b 1877) and Elizabeth J (b 1888). John and Margaret had two children while living in England, Florence Annie (b 1901) and William (1902-1985).

On 15 March 1904, the family boarded SS ‘Lake Champlain’ in Liverpool, England and sailed to St John, New Brunswick. They gave their final destination as Winnipeg, Manitoba.

By the time of the 1906 census, they were living in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. From 1916 till 1921, the family lived at 1405 Coy Ave and from at least 1918 to 1921, John worked as a clerk for Cockshut Plow Co.

In November of 1921, a border crossing record for John, Margaret, Kenneth and Ernest indicated that their last permanent residence was Saskatoon and their destination was Manshula, Florida. They indicated that they were moving to the States for permanent residence.

Margaret died on 26 January 1929 in Arcadia, Desoto, Florida. The 1930 census found John and Kenneth living in Arcadia where John was secretary for a loan company. John likely died in Desoto, Florida in 1944. There was no age on the death record, but that is likely where he was living and the year is not unrealistic.
