JENNIE MORRISON (COSIA) WAY née McCALLUM

Jennie Morrison (Cosia) McCallum was born on 18 April 1880 in River Desert, Quebec to John McCallum (b 1832) and Isabella Robb. Her siblings were: Ella Bulfour (b 1873), George Duncan (b 1875), Mary (Minnie) (b 1877), Charlotte E (Lottie) (b 1881) and J Charles (b 1885). In 1891 and 1901, the McCallum family was living in Russell, Ontario. In 1901, Jennie/Cosia was working as a servant in the home of Dugald and Julia MacLachlan in Brooke, Ontario.

Jennie/Cosia married Herbert William Way on 25 May 1907 in Russell, Ontario. Herbert was born on 5 June 1875 in Rockland, Ontario to Daniel Herbert Way (1849-1917) and Catharine (Kate) Johnston (1853-1940). His siblings were: Mary Jane (1874-1874), Herbert William (1875-1954), Margaret Jane (Maggie) (1877-1958), Archibald Gordon (1878-1881), Walter Stephen (1879-1879), Florence Louise (1880-1964), Altina Maude (1881-1979), Helen Kate (1883-1965), Lucy Lorraine (1885-1973), Daniel Gordon (1887), Ethel Mariah (1889-1982), Clara Fedelea (1891-1993) and Russell Johnston (1898-1979).

From 1911 to 1921, Cosia and Herbert lived at 220 2nd Ave N in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where Herbert was a horse dealer. In census records prior to 1911, her enumerated name was Jennie, but in 1911, 1916 and 1921, she was enumerated as Cosia. Herbert and Jennie/Cosia had four children: Russell McCallum (1908-1978), Hazel Louisa (1909), Leslie Stuart (1911-1989) and Donald Herbert (1919-2003). At the time of their marriage, both Herbert and Jennie/Cosia were still living in Ontario, Herbert in Rockland and Jennie/Cosia in Cumberland. The Saskatchewan birth registration for Russell McCallum Way gave his place of birth as Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, so Jennie/Cosia and Herbert likely moved to Saskatoon shortly after they were married. Herbert died on 10 January 1954 and Jennie/Cosia on 5 April 1955, both in Saskatoon. Both are buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon.
