Miriam Patience Estella Earl was born on 13 July 1864 in Lansdowne, Leeds, Ontario to Allan Earl (1828-1905) & Rachael Ethel Earl (1834-1921). Miriam had three sisters, Amelia Louise (1854-1955), Mary Esther (1856-1930) & Susannah Margaret (1860-1891) and two brothers, Mark (b 1867) & John Webster (b 1876). Miriam married Thomas George Davis (1858-1907) on 11 June 1883 in Annabel, Bruce, Ontario where Thomas was already established as a farmer. Thomas & Miriam had six children, Allan Mansell (1884-1972), Reginald William Evans (1885-1917), Alvin Earl (1887-1975), George Evans (1887-1949), Marjorie (1893-1993) & Thomas Cecil (1895-1895).
Thomas died on 2 May 1907. In 1909, Reginald & George moved to Saskatoon, living at 642 Spadina Crescent. They both worked for Ferguson & MacDermid, barristers & solicitors. Allan married Betsy Jane ‘Bessie’ Laike on 15 June 1910 and they moved away to Manitoba. In 1911, Miriam, Alvin & Marjorie also moved to Saskatoon and the family lived together at 510 25th St E for several years.
Reginald became a barrister and went into partnership with Harold A Ebbels to form David & Ebbels, barristers & solicitors with offices at 15 Clinkskill Chambers, 118 21st St E. On 7 December 1915, Reginald enlisted in the Canadian Highlanders with the rank of Captain. Whilst serving overseas he was promoted to Major and whilst commandant of 75th Battalion at Zouave Valley, Aix-Noulette, France suffered fatal injuries. He died on 2 July 1917 and is buried in the Military Cemetery at Villiers Station.
Allan & Bessie had one daughter who survived, Margaret Enid, born on 14 August 1912 in Baldur, Manitoba. Bessie died on 8 March 1914 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Allan moved to the United States and married May M Mount (1887-1928) on 29 May 1922 in Manhattan, New York. Allan lived in California until his death on 3 February 1972. His daughter Margaret married John Hromadka (1908-1995) on 22 August 1935 in Pasadena, California. John & Margaret had two children, August B & Elizabeth.
Miriam lived with John & Margaret Hromadka at 2320 Carlyle Ave, Santa Monica. She died on 16 December 1959 in Santa Monica.
