WILLIAM JOHN THORNE and WILHEMINA M (MINA) THORNE née BERRY
William John Thorne was born on 2 February 1882 in Middlesex County, Ontario to Charles Studley Thorne (1860-1929) and Mary Elizabeth Skellet (1857-1890). His siblings were: Bertie May (b 1885), Edward C (b 1887) and Louis Edward (1889-1889). He also had half siblings from his father's second marriage to Sarah Smith (b 1863). They were: Sylvia Heale (b 1895), James Smith (b 1896) and Mary Grace (b 1899).
In 1901, the Thorne family was living in Mitchell, Ontario. William married Wilhemina M (Mina) Berry in about 1916. She was born on 16 September 1883 in Dufferin, Ontario to Robert Berry (1846-1897) and Margaret Euphemia McKay (b 1859). Her siblings were: Janet Margaret (Jane) (b 1874), Mary Jane (b 1876), George Manson (1878-1963), Elizabeth Jane (Eliza) (b 1881), William Henry (b 1886), Annie (b 1889) and Robert John (b 1893). In 1891, the Berry family was living in Grey Township, Huron County, Ontario.
In 1916, William and Mina were living in the Connaught Apartments, 247 3rd Ave S, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and William was the manager of a retail shoe store. The 1917 Saskatoon Henderson City Directory listed him as a department manager at CF Cairns living at #12a Queens Ct, 303-305 Queen Street. By 1930 he and Mina had moved to Los Angeles, California. William died there on 14 December 1944 and Mina on 23 October 1961.
