James "Arthur" Taylor was born on 17 April 1892 in Madawaska, Ontario to John Taylor (b 1854) and Elizabeth (Eliza) Payne (b 1856). His siblings were: Laura Agnes (b 1877), William Armor (b 1879), Margaret Eleanor (b 1881), John Irwin (b 1882), Lucy Maria (b 1884), Charlotte May (b 1886), Silas Edmund (b 1887), Harold Garfield (b 1889), Edna Elma (b 1894), Kenneth McDonald (b 1897) and Calvin Howard (b 1898). The Taylor family lived in Nipissing County, Ontario until at least 1911.
By the time of the 1916 census, James was living in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He married Cressida Mae Taylor on 10 October 1917 in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. She was born on 2 October 1895 in Portage La Prairie to John Wesley Taylor (1861-1923) and Abbie Evans (b 1862). Her siblings were: Walter Dean (b 1900) and Gladys Victoria (b 1901). This Taylor family was in Portage La Prairie in 1901, but was living on land in the Brandon District of Manitoba in 1906 and 1911. Cressida and the rest of her family was back in Portage La Prairie by 1916.
In the 1918 Saskatoon Henderson City Directory, Arthur was working as a brakeman for the CNR and was living at 430 3rd Ave N. By 1921 Arthur and Cressida were living at 506 Ave H South in Saskatoon. James died on 10 April 1978 in Burnaby, British Columbia and Cressida followed him shortly thereafter on 2 July of the same year in the same city.
