ANNIE TAYLOR

Annie Taylor was born in 1895 in Scotland to George Gillespie Taylor (1873-1928) and Catherine (b 1875). She had one half brother, David Hector (1908-1973), whose mother was Mary J McLean (b 1883). Annie boarded SS ‘Cassandra’ in Glasgow on 6 November 1911 and arrived in Montreal, Quebec on 16 November 1911. Her destination was Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to join her father who was a plumber.

In 1911, only George, Mary and David were enumerated in the Saskatoon census. By 1916, George was listed as a widower and he and the two children were living at 613 Lorne Avenue. In the 1918 Saskatoon Henderson City Directory, Annie was living at #3 Taylor Block, 613 McPherson Avenue and was employed as a stenographer at Koyl, Buchan and Parkin, financial agents. Her father was also listed at the same address and he was still there at the time of the 1921 census, but Annie appears to have moved out and was living at 700 5th Ave N in 1919 & 1920 and working as a stenographer for unspecified employers.
