Florence Graham Ewens was born on 15 July 1887 in Holland, Grey, Ontario, Canada to Richard Robert Ewens (1850-1928) & Maria Mary Graham (1849-1931). He had two brothers, Reginal Simeon (1883-1901) & Harry Elswood (Harvey) (1885-1956) and one sister, Ruby Mabel Ewens, born on 17 December 1890 in Grey, Ontario.
The family moved to Battleford and in 1911, Richard and the surviving sons were all described as general merchants. From 1916-1919, the family were living at 441 3rd Ave N, Saskatoon and their grocery business was at 726 7th Ave N. Ruby was a bookkeeper, possibly for the family business.
In 1920, the family had moved to 812 6th Ave N, whilst continuing the grocery business at 726 7th Ave N. Ruby had left home and this may be when she married John Bartleman Boyd.
John and Ruby had two children, Lorne Graham (1921-1943) & Muriel Eileen (b 1924). Lorne served in the RCAF during WWII and died on active service on 15 September 1943. He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial, Surrey, England.
On 25 February, Maria and the two boys arrived in Seattle, Washington en route to join her husband in Roseburg, Oregon. F Graham married Emma S Dirks about 1930 in Oregon. They had two boys, Kenneth G (1932-1963) & James R (b 1936). The family lived in Roseburg until F Graham’s death on 23 April 1971.
Their family tree can be found on Ancestry under the title 3rd Ave EwensTree.
