NASSAU CHARLES SPROULE and EVA ISABELLA SPROULE née DOBBS
Nassau Charles Sproule was born on 9 July 1879 in Cannington, Ontario to John Henry Sproule (1831-1882) and Eleanor (Ellen) Fair (1837-1899). His siblings were: John James (b 1857), Naomi (b 1859), Elizabeth Ann (b 1860), Sarah Jane (1862-1937), Melinda (b 1866), Mary Ellen (b 1868), Pheline (Lena) (b 1869), Albert Henry (b 1873), William Adal (b 1873), Ada Florence (1875-1938) and Albertha Mary (b 1875). In 1881 the Sproule family was living in Cannington. Nassau's father, John, died on 23 February 1882 in Cannington. By 1891, Eleanor and some of the younger children were living in Cornwallis, Manitoba. Eleanor died in Whitehead, Manitoba on 18 October 1899.
1901 found some of the Sproule children, including Nassau, living together in the same household in Whitehead. Nassau married Eva Isabella Dobbs on 1 February 1906 in Toronto, Ontario. Eva was born on 15 March 1874 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Arthur J Dobbs (b 1839) and Hannah (Anna) Toole (b 1848). Her siblings were: Arthur "Henry" (b 1876), William (b 1879) and John Albert (b 1883). In 1881, the Dobbs family was living in Winnipeg, Manitoba. By 1891 Eva's father, Arthur, had died and she, her mother and her siblings were living in St Matthew's Ward of York County, Ontario. By 1901, Eva was boarding in Toronto with Charles and Tillie Bowman.
In 1911 Nassau and Eva were living in Yorkton, Saskatchewan where Nassau was a Commercial Traveler for a Machine Company. The Sproules first appeared on the roll for 3rd Avenue Methodist Church in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1915. From at least 1916 to 1921 they lived at 410 4th Ave N, Saskatoon. In 1916, Nassau was a traveler for an implement company and the couple had several roomers living with them. In 1918 Nassau was a conductor for the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) and in 1921, he was a machinist and Eva was a nurse who, according to the Henderson directory, was superintendent of Women's Christian Temperance Union Hospital. Nassau died on 15 May 1943 in Vancouver, British Columbia and Eva died in the same city on 2 November 1954.
