In 1918, he was at the same address and was a wholesale butcher. In 1919 & 1920 he was at 1033 2nd St and was a butcher and cattle dealer, respectively.

William Neil Stewart was born on 30 December 1888 in Kensington, Prince Edward Island to Neil Stewart (1857-1925) and Selina Huntington Day (1860-1923). His siblings were: Alexander Simon (1886-1966), Norman Rutherford (1893-1893) and Mary Ruth (1895-1979). He lived in Prince Edward Island with his parents and siblings until at least 1911.
At some point he came to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to study law. In May of 1916, he returned to Prince Edward Island to marry Henrietta Mabel (Hattie) MacEwen. According to her obituary, she came to Saskatoon the following year. Hattie was born on 20 June 1890 in St Peters Bay, Prince Edward Island to James Andrew MacEwen (1860-1924) and Henrietta Jane MacEwen (1858-1932). The 1921 census found them living at 311 27th St W, at which time William was a barrister. Hattie died on 22 January 1948 in Saskatoon and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery. According to her obituary, William was a well known member of the Saskatoon Bar and a former alderman. William died on 5 November 1972 in Vancouver, British Columbia. There were three William Stewarts listed in the Saskatoon Henderson Directory in 1918. Two of them could be traced, but one could not as it appeared that he was not living in Saskatoon during census years. A search of 1916 and 1921 census years, revealed one other William Stewart living in Saskatoon in 1916, but there was no way to know if he was here in 1918 because he was not listed in the 1918 Henderson directory with the same address or occupation. He was eliminated as a candidate. If someone has a signature for any of the candidates outlined below, a comparison to the quilt signature may help to determine which person signed the quilt.
William Malcolmson Stewart was born on 26 November 1884 in Hamilton, Ontario to James Hobson Stewart (1852-1928) and Thomasina Malcolmson (b 1855). William married Mary Annabella (Belle) Turnbull on 14 May 1913 in Saskatoon. Mary was born on 4 May 1887 in Dufferin to Robert Turnbull (1850-1940) and Isabella Orr (1854-1950). Mary's siblings were: John James (1875-1907), Ernest Alexander (1877-1965), Robert Louis (1879-1964), Edith Florence (1881-1961), Bertha Mabel (1885) and Elbert Wright (1890-1974). The Turnbull family lived in Mono, Cardwell, Ontario in 1891, Brandon, Manitoba in 1906 and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1911.
William and Mary had the following children: Gordon Turnbull (1914-1952), Elizabeth Cameron (Betty) (1915-1989), James (b 1918), and Helen Annabel (1920-2005). William was a civil engineer employed at Phillips, Stewart and Lee, a company that did land surveying.
