THIRD AVENUE METHODIST CHURCH QUILT

A CANADIAN RED CROSS QUILT

Another quilt?

EDWARD MELVIN TAYLOR

Edward Melvin Taylor was born on 13 March 1894 in Kent, Ontario to Thomas Edward Taylor (b 1864) and Elizabeth Malvina (Eliza) Claus (b 1867). His siblings were Edith Ethel (b 1891), Wilfred (b 1897) and Beatrice Louise (b 1899).

In 1901 and 1911, the Taylor family was living in Raleigh, Ontario. By 1916, they had moved to Edmonton, Alberta. In the 1918, Saskatoon Henderson City Directory, Edward was listed as working at the Account Investment Department of Canada Life Association Co. and was living at 807 Ave K North. Some time between 1916 and 1921, Edward married Mabel who was born in Ontario in 1884. They were still living at 807 Ave K North in 1921.

Edward is one of several candidates for the EMS Taylor signature on the quilt. Like the others, we could only attribute two of the three initials to him from documentation that we were able to find. If anyone is aware that he had a third name that began with S, we would like to know about it.

This family tree can be found on Ancestry under the title 3rd Ave Taylor 7 Tree.
