Charles E Getman was born on 14 December 1852 in Connecticut, USA to Michael Getman (b 1811) & Mahalia (b 1819). Charles had one brother, Albert J (1854-1925). Charles married Linnie A Green (1860-1889) in about 1875. Charles & Linnie had two children, Edward H (1878-1929) & Gertrude Marguerite Pearl (1882-1945). Subsequent to Linnie’s death, Charles married Ella Frances Drake (1858-1938). Ella was born in September 1858 in Erie Co, New York to Francis M Drake (1833-1916) and Phoebe J Sherwood (1836-1895).
Charles & Ella lived in Saratoga, New York where Charles was a carpenter and then lumber dealer. After their children left home, Charles & Ella moved to Canada in 1912 and settled in Saskatoon where Charles progressed to the more skilled trade of cabinet making. After about 1920 they lived at 436 4th Ave N.
Ella died on 19 May 1938 and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon. Charles continued working until he was in his eighties. He died on 16 March 1946 and is buried alongside his wife.
