ELIZABETH BUCHANAN WEIR

Elizabeth Buchanan Weir was born on 8 December 1878 in the Rural Municipality of Rockwood, Manitoba to Richard Weir (1852-1932)and Margaret Moir (1848-1928). Her name in the Manitoba birth records was given as Elizabeth Buchanan, but she was listed as Elizabeth Moir in the 1911 census. Her siblings were Susan Sutton (1880-1974), Mary (1882), James (1883), George Moir (1885-1949), Archibald Richard (1888-1957) and John Alexander (1894).

Elizabeth lived with her parents and various other members of her family in all census records from 1881 to 1921. The Weir family was found in Dufferin, Manitoba in 1881, St Andrews, Manitoba in 1891, Petrolia, Ontario in 1901, at 118 Ave D North, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1911, and at 508 Walmer Rd, Saskatoon in 1916 and 1921.

From 1911 to 1921, Elizabeth worked for the city as an assistant treasurer (1911), Tax Clerk (1916) and a Tax Collector (1921). Elizabeth moved to Vancouver and a student at University of British Columbia from 1928-1930 living at 4543 W 5th. She remained in this area of Vancouver and died in Vancouver on 18 August 1950.
