Jeanetta Mae (Jennie) Robinson was born on 31 December 1899 in Carberry, Manitoba to Hugh Robinson (b 1872) and Sarah Ann (Anna) (Annie) McMaster (b 1877). She was an only child. In 1901 the Robinson family lived in Carberry and in 1906, 3-10-14-W Carberry. Hugh had a homestead grant issued on 5 June 1911 for SE-14-34-26-W2 in the RM of Viscount, Saskatchewan and he and his family were enumerated on that land in 1911.
By 1916 they had moved to 1113 Coy Ave in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Jeanetta was still living with her parents in 1918 when she was listed as a student living at the Coy address. It is believed that she was the Jeanetta Robinson who was working as a teacher and enumerated in Springwater, Saskatchewan in 1921. In 1923, she was once again living with her parents on Coy. Her father could be tracked in Saskatoon Henderson directories until 1931, but 1923 was the last date that Jeanetta was listed. While living in Saskatoon, Hugh generally worked as a motorman for Street Railway, but from 1927 to 1930 was an employee for the city.
There is significant doubt that the Jeanetta in this tree was the person who signed the quilt Jean Robinson. We could find no evidence that she ever used the name Jean. In later Henderson Directories she was using the name May. In census records she was always enumerated as Jeanetta, Jennie or May. If anyone knows that she used the name Jean, please contact us as that would establish her as a very strong candidate for the signature. Thus far she is the only candidate that we could find with ties to Saskatoon.
This family tree can be found on Ancestry under the title 3rd Ave Robinson P Tree.
