Franklin Walter (Frank) Rowe was born on 29 January 1872 in Detroit, Michigan to William Northcott Rowe (1830-1919) and Maria Pincomb (1828-1906). His siblings were: Etta Maria (1858-1937), William (1860-1946), Charles M (1862-1952), Fannie J (1866-1961) and Minnie Belle (1869-1951). In 1880 the Rowe family was living in Detroit, Michigan.
Frank married Eva Maude Hunter on 26 October 1892 in Detroit. She was born on 14 April 1873 in Toronto, Ontario to Robert Hunter (1851-1903) and Sophia Sleeth (1852-1928). Her siblings were: William Wilford James (1874-1931), George Jeffrey (1876-1967), Andrew Sleeth (1879-1957) and Harry (1880-1886). 1900 found Frank and Eva in Detroit, Michigan with a daughter, Vera L (1897-1925).
By 1906 Frank Rowe had applied for a homestead in Saskatchewan and the family was living on 22-41-19-W3 in Buffalo RM. On 2 November 1910 the homestead grant for this land was issued to Franklin Walter Rowe This was the only place that we found his middle name recorded, some family trees on Ancestry have his middle name as William. Another daughter, Irene Roberta was born in Battleford, Saskatchewan on 5 December 1912.
By 1914 the family had moved to 417 Queen Street in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. In the earlier Saskatoon Henderson Directories, Frank was recorded as a farmer and in 1916 as a clerk with Royal Shoe Store. It was interesting to note that he had also been a shoe merchant in 1900 when he was living in Detroit. A family contact has informed us that Frank and his father were shoemakers in Detroit. By 1920 Frank, Eva and Irene were living in Los Angeles, California. The three of them were still together in 1930 in Grosse Point, Wayne, Michigan. Frank and Eva were still living there in 1940. Franklin died in Detroit on 20 February 1951 and Eva died in Pontiac, Oakland, Michigan on 28 May 1952. Both were buried in Woodmere Cemetery in Detroit.
Irene married Ernest F Denne (1909-1997) on 1 August 1936 in Grosse Pointe. They have two living children. Irene died on 14 May 1966 in Oakland, Michigan and was cremated.
This family tree can be found on Ancestry under the title 3rd Ave Rowe Tree.
