D J BETHUNE

Duncan Bethune was born on 5 May 1875 in Stormont and Dundas and Glengarry, Ontario to Donald Bethune (b 1839) & Catherine (Christy) McLeod (b 1832). Duncan had five sisters and two brothers.

Duncan married Minnie Marie Storey (1877-1965) around 1917. Minnie had previously married William James Hanley (1868-1915) by who she had a daughter, Margaret Haley (1909-1993). Duncan and Minnie had a daughter, Sarah Catherine Bethune (1919-1945).

Duncan first appeared in the Henderson Saskatoon Directory in 1920, when he was living at 124 Ave C North and worked as a fireman. According to his obituary, Duncan worked for CNR and Street Railway for many years.

Minnie died on 30 May 1965 whilst living at 426 Ave E South, Saskatoon and Duncan died on 12 August 1966 at 4607 49th Ave, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan.

Duncan Bethune was born on 4 March 1888 in Bathgate, North Dakota, USA to Norman Bethune (1844-1928) and Catherine McDonald (1850-1924). Duncan had three sisters and one brother.

Duncan came to Canada with his family in 1902. The family settled on 34-4-W3 near Dundurn, Saskatchewan. Dundurn is about 30km south of Saskatoon. Duncan married Katherine Harriet McCrimmon (1889-1977) in 1911 and continued to farm land near his parents. Duncan and Katherine had two sons, John & Russell.

Duncan died on 13 January 1973 in Saskatoon and Katherine died on 22 Jan 1977 in Dundurn.

Duncan James Bethune was born on 20 Aug 1884 in Stormont, Ontario to Angus Bethune (b 1854) and Christina McAuley (b 1858). Duncan had three siblings, Maude (b 1880), Lorne (b 1889) & Clifford Donald (b 1897). Duncan grew up in the Stormont area and came west to Red Deer, Alberta by 1911 where Angus and all his sons were described as farmers in the census.

By 1921, Duncan had married Etta who was born in Newfoundland around 1890, was a station agent and had a daughter, Eileen born around the end of 1920 in Saskatchewan. The family were living in Chamberlain, Saskatchewan about 100km to the SE of Saskatoon.
