A CANADIAN RED CROSS QUILT

Another quilt?

Franklin John Brunton was born John Franklin Brunton but seems to have been known as FJ or Franklin J later in life. He was born on 27 March 1899 in Simcoe, Ontario to Randolph H Brunton (1868-1943) and Philipa Smith Inch (b 1865). FJ had one brother, Clifford James (1894-1981) and two sisters, Eva Muriel (1897-1898) & Edith Marion (b 1902). The Brutons were a Methodist family.

FJ lived with his family in Westpark, Cuyahoga, Ohio, USA from 1900-1912, but by 1913 the family were living at 1907 Dufferin Ave, Saskatoon where Randolph was manager of Goose Lake Grain & Lumber Co.

In 1918, FJ worked for Canadian Fairbanks-Morse and then in 1919 for JH Ashdown Hardware Co. The Brutons left Saskatoon during 1920.

Randolph was living at 274 Sandford Ave, Hamilton, Ontario in 1920 when FJ travelled via Niagara Falls to stay with his mother’s family in Cleveland, Ohio.

No further information has been found about FJ.

Their family tree can be found on Ancestry under the title 3rd Ave Brunton 2 Tree.
