A CANADIAN RED CROSS QUILT

Another quilt?

FREDERICK WILLIAM (FRED) HOLLAND

Frederick William (Fred) Holland was born in about 1883 in England. Nothing further could be found about his parentage. Fred married Ruth Margaret Andrews (1887-1940) on 9 March 1907 in Stillwater, Washington, Minnesota, USA. Ruth was born in Minnesota. Again nothing further has been found about her parentage.

After their marriage, Fred and Ruth must have moved to North Dakota as their two eldest children, Audrey Ethel (b 1907) and Muriel Alice (1909-1961) were both born in that state. Their third child, Ruth M (b 1911) was born in the US, probably in Minnesota as they were registered in Moorhead Township in Clay Co, Minnesota in 1910.

Around 1912, the family immigrated to Canada and had arrived in Saskatoon by 1915 when they were living at 433 Ave D South. Fred had found work as a fireman for CNR. The following year they had moved to 527 Ave F South and Fred was an engineer with CNR. In 1921, they were living at 235 11th St E.

Fred and Ruth were living at 487 11th St E, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan in 1935. Their youngest daughter, Ruth, was living with her parents and working as a stenographer.

Ruth died on 16 January 1940 and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon.

No further information is known about this family.
