CHARLES LEROY THORNTON

Charles Leroy Thornton was born on 5 September 1902 in Teeswater, Ontario to James "Wallace" Thornton (1846-1917) and Mary Ann Hall (1863-1928). His siblings were: Leonard Ernest (1881-1966), William (b 1882), Lottie Margaret Ann (1884-1955), Hazel Jane (1888-1890), Robert Lafeyett (1891-1892), Edwin Olonza (1893-1958), Bertram Trueman (1894-1972) and James Norman (1899-1933).

Charles married Annie Dixon Galloway on 18 October 1924 in Brampton, Ontario. On the marriage registration, he gave his occupation as baker and she as waitress. Annie was born in Scotland in 1904 to Robert Galloway and Ann Dixon. Annie and Charles had one son, Robert Lafayette (1926-1997).

On 12 April 1939, the Thornton family emigrated to the USA and were found living in Detroit, Michigan in the 1940 census. Charles became a naturalized American on 28 August 1945. He died on 26 August 1972 in Los Angeles, California and was buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, California. Nothing more could be discovered about Annie.
