ALLAN TURNER

Allan Turner was born on 13 October 1890 in Culross Twp, Bruce County, Ontario to Richard Turner (1856-1912) and Edith Thompson (1864-1932). His siblings were: John Henry Turner (1883-1957), Mary Harriet Etta (b 1886), William Charles Durn (1888-1948), Edith Pearl (1897-1973), Annie Grace (1900-1985) and Daisy Lauretta (1900-1957).

Allan married Margaret Alice Smith on 17 October 1917 in Bruce County. She was born on 12 November 1889 in Kinloss Twp, Bruce County to Alexander Smith (1846-1916) and Elizabeth Falconer (1856-1921). Her siblings were: William (1877-1934), John James (1880-1964), Elizabeth Helen (1885-1979) and George Alexander (1891-1973). There are some very good biographies of the Smith families that moved to Stonehenge RM, Saskatchewan in the book, Prairie Trails and Pioneer Tales: RM of Stonehenge #73. The biography about Margaret Turner can be found here.

Although Margaret lived in Saskatchewan for a while, she returned to Ontario where she married Allan. They had two children,

Wilda Marie (1926-1926) and
Richard Allan (1929-2013).

The Turner family lived in Lucknow until 1931 when Allan died suddenly of a heart attack on 10 February. After that time, Margaret moved to Toronto and taught English in a Bible School. She died 3 February 1974. Allan, Margaret and Wilda were buried in South Kinloss Cemetery, Lucknow, Ontario.

This family can be found on Ancestry under the title Culross Turner Tree.
