COLLISON
Katherine Collison was born on 8 October 1902 in Riversdale, Bruce County to James Collison (1861-1934) and Mary M Manley (1874-1954).
James Collison was born on 1 April 1861 in Oakville, Trafalgar Twp, Huron County to John Collison (1815-1864) and Mary Hogan (1817-1901). Jphn and Mary were born in Tipperary, Ireland and came to Canada sometime after their marriage in about 1840.
Mary M Manley was born on 8 March 1874 in Culross to Patrick Manley (1835-1902) and Margaret Monaghan (1830-1900).
J Thomas Manley was born on 22 September 1894 and in 1901 was living in the Patrick Manley household.
James Collison married Mary M Manley on 14 April 1901 in Sacred Heart Church, Teeswater, Bruce County. From subsequent census records it seems they raised a family of eight children,
Theaddus J born on 22 September 1894,
Katherine born on 8 October 1902,
Margaret (1904-1977),
Gertrude Cecilia (1906-1977),
Thomas (1908-1978),
Patrick Joseph (1910-1982),
William Manley (1912-1981) and
Mary (1914-2006).
Katherine was one of the Junior Workers who made the quilt. In 1918, she would have been fifteen going on sixteen years of age. She was still living with her parents in 1921. Nothing further is known about Katherine, but her name is sometimes rendered as Catherine or Chatine in the census records. Note: several Ancestry family trees incorrectly give her death as 18 September 1966; but this death record relates to Theaddus’ wife, Catherine née O’Neill.
Theaddus farmed in Culross. He married Catherine O’Neill (1902-1966). Theaddus died in 12 December 1947 in Riversdale, Bruce County and Catherine died on 18 September 1966. They are both buried in St Anne's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Riversdale.
The family tree can be found on Ancestry under the title Culross Collison Tree.
