GEORGE EDWARD DORMER

George Edward Dormer was born on 7 August 1876 probably in Lanark, County, Ontario to Thomas Henry Dormer (1851-1915) and Jane Dobbie (1851-1924). George had one brother, James A (b 1875).

George’s father was a moulder and died in Teeswater, Bruce County on 18 March 1915 but was was buried in Oshawa where he had been living in the 1880s.

George married Victoria Alexandra Worden (b 1883) on 24 January 1912 in York, Ontario. Victoria was born in 1883 to Peter W Worden (1844-1923) and Maria McKernan (1838-1920). Victoria had four siblings, Agnes (b 1869), Madeline (1870-1978), Annie F (1873-1920) and Marquis Dufferin (1879-1968)

George was a driver/messanger throughout his working life. In the 1930s and 1940s George and Victoria were living in Toronto. Victoria’s unmarried sisters, Agnes - a teacher- and Madeline were listed at the same addresses.

This is the only George Dormer we have been able to identify with any connection to the Culross area.
