ETHEL JANE DREHMANN

Ethel Jane Drehmann was born on 25 August 1902 in Bayfield, Huron County to Henry (Harry) Drehmann (1864-1933) and Elizabeth Ann Haines (b 1870). Ethel had three siblings, James (1904-1988), Elizabeth Adeline (Addie) (b 1906) and George (1912-2000).

Ethel lived with her family at 216 Main St, Bayfield at least until 1921. Her father was a tailor.

Ethel married James Allan Aitchison (1898-1955). James was born on 11 August 1898 in Sullivan Twp, Grey County to James Allan Aitchison (1845-1927) and Margaret Mills (1854-1922). James had six siblings, Cairns (1885-1977), Hannah (1886-1966), John Mills (1888-1976), Archibald McDiarmid (1891-1973), Robert Wilfred (1893-1934) and Gertrude (1908-1980).

Ethel and James had a son, Roy, who was born on 1 March 1936 but only lived two days.

Ethel’s Aunt, Sophia Haines married Samuel Parker and this connection may explain how Ethel’s name came to be on the quilt as we found no evidence that Ethel ever lived in Culross.

This family can be found on Ancestry under the title Culross Caslick/Drehmann/Grant/Hardy/ Parker/Semple  Tree.
