We cannot determine to which ‘C Hetherington’ the name on the quilt refers, so we have included both as possible candidates.

Christopher Hetherington was born on 9 January 1869 in Culross to George Hetherington (1826-1883) and Mary Ann White (1828-1901). Christopher had seven siblings, Robert (b 1857), William (b 1859), James (b 1861), George (b 1863), Henry (1868-1890) and Matilda (1871-1907).

Christopher married Susanna Thompson on 18 December 1895 in Teeswater. Susanna was born on 11 August 1876 in Culross to Henry Thompson (1838-1913) and Mary Jane Murphy (1840-1904). Susanna had twelve siblings, Thomas (b 1863), Edith (1864-1932), Annie (1866-1936), Emma (b 1868), Albert Edward (1869-1950), Jane (1872-1898), Frederick Henry (b 1874), Mary Etta (1876-1906), Herbert Allen (b 1879), Teresa (b 1882), Daisy Adelaide Victoria (1882-1936) and Elizabeth (b 1884).

Christopher and Susanna had nine children, Mary Etta (1897-1970), Albert Elliott (1899-1976), Clifford Thompson (b 1901), Leslie James (b 1903), Harold Herbert (b 1904), Lillian Susan (1906-1993), George Francis (1912-1987) and Carman K (1915-1975).

Susanna  died on 17 November 1942 in Culross and Christopher died on 27 September 1950 in Morris Township, Huron County.

Susanna’s sister Annie married William Hodgins (1857-1936) on 13 April 1887 in Kinloss Township. Annie and William had four children, Wellington Allan (1891-1953), Fanny Ethel (b 1894), Arthur Edward (1897-1967) and Perry Nelson (1901-1974).

Arthur was born on 18 December 1897 in Culross. Arthur married Rose Campbell (1912-1983). Arthur died 24 April 1967 in Culross.

Mary Etta Hetherington married Duncan Stewart Thompson on 30 June 1920 in Holyrood, Bruce County.

Duncan was born on 5 July 1894 in Culross to James Stewart (1863-1948) and Esther Stewart (1862-1934). He had four siblings, Merle (b 1890), Ester Thompson (1898-1907), Mary (1900-1971) and Catherine (Kate) (1903-1981).

Duncan and Mary had one son Lloyd (1925-2004). Mary died in 1970 and Duncan on 14 July 1974.
