DOROTHY KAY, née DORTHA ISABELLA CAMPBELL
Dortha Isabella Campbell was born on 28 May 1890 in Duluth, Minnesota, USA to George Campbell (b 1857) and Regina Kaut (b 1861). Dortha had two siblings, Willimina (b 1891) and Crofford George (b 1894). The family came to Canada in 1899 and settled in Kincardine, Bruce County where Dortha’s father was a farm labourer. In 1911, they were living at Broadway St, Kincardine.
Dortha married George Nelson Kay on New Year’s Day 1916 in Kincardine. George was born on 9 September 1888 in Kincardine to Alexander Kay (1854-1904) and Margaret Bell (b 1854). George had six siblings, Lizzie Elizabeth (b 1875), Hugh Alexander (1877-1918), Aggie G (1879-1952), Eleatha A (1881-1929), Joseph James (1884-1968) and Thomas Henry Russell (1891-1914).
George worked as a cabinet maker. Dortha and George had one daughter, Mildred.
George died as a result of an accident with a rifle on 6 January 1923 in Kincardine.
Dorha moved in Vancouver in 1965, living at 6985 Heather Street with her daughter, Mildred Forrester and son-in-law. She died of pneumonia on 22 December 1968.

Although Dortha seems never to have used the name ‘Dorothy’, this is the must likely candidate that we have found.
