LITTLE FAMILY
William Little was born on 9 March 1844 in Puslinch, Wellington, Ontario to Archibald Little (1844-1880) and Euphemia Laing (1807-1889). William had eleven siblings, Thomas (b 1824), Archibald (1826-1911), John (1827-1868), James (1829-1906), Barbara (1831-1907), Andrew (1833-1907), Elizabeth (1835-1915), Janet Murray (Jessie) (1838-1923), Robert (1840-1889), Margaret (1848-1907) and Charles (1851-1934).
William’s family came west to Culross by 1871, where they farmed. William married Marcellene Grenache on 11 July 1876 in Culross. Marcellene was born in 1854 possibly in Culross to Joseph Grenache (1820-1889) and Mary Anne Brown (1828-1907). Marcellene had four siblings, Eliza Ann (1850-1921), James (1854-1916), George A (1864-1961) and John (Jack) (1868-1929).
William and Marcellene had one son, Archibald born on 24 June 1877 who died in infancy. Marcellene died on 17 March 1898 in Teeswater.
William married Christina Clark on 6 July 1904 in Culross. Christina was born on 8 March 1867 in Culross to Peter Clark (1827-1904) and Christina McIntyre (1838-1874). Christina had five siblings, Robert (b 1860), John McIntyre (1863-1931), Janet (1865-1942), Isabella (1869-1910) and Catherine (Kate) (b 1873).
William was farming when he married Christina but later seems to have been in business, possibly as a hardware storekeeper. By 1921 he was living on income and died on 10 April 1928 in Teeswater. Christina travelled to the US in 1943. She died on 12 April 1952 and is buried alongside her husband in the Teeswater-Culross Cemetery.
William’s brother, Andrew (1833-1907) married Jane Key Weir (1843-1931) on 14 August 1866 in Guelph, Wellington County. They had six children,
Jennet/Janette (1868-1953),
Archibald Charles (1869-1940),
Euphemia (1873-1974),
Margaret Jane (Maggie) (1878-1969),
Adam Weir (1878-1958) and
Elizabeth Barbara (1882-1970).
Adam Weir Little was born on 7 April 1878 in Teeswater. He married Annie MacDonald on 13 April 1910 in Teeswater. Annie was born on 24 October 1874 to David McDonald (1838-1911) and Catherine (Kitty) Macdonald (1843-1937). Annie had ten siblings, Margaret (b 1865), Hugh (1866-1916), Donald Alexander (b 1869), John (b 1870), Elizabeth (1871-1915), David McDonald Jr. 1873-1946), William (b 1876), Thomas Peter (1879-1950), Duncan (b 1883) and James Linton (1889).
Adam and Annie had three children,
Jean Logan (1910-1913),
Andrew McDonald (1910-1978) and
David Bruce (1916-1972).
Annie died on 13 March 1940 and Adam died on 29 May 1958. They are both buried in the Teeswater-Culross Cemetery.
Andrew McDonald Little was born on 10 September 1910 in Teeswater. Andrew married Margaret Jean Babb (1909-1992) on 3 July 1943 in Teeswater. Andrew took over the flour mill in Teeswater from his father and later removed the flour machinery to operate the premises as a feed mill. Andrew died on 16 January 1978. He and Margaret are also buried in the Teeswater-Culross Cemetery.
