JOHN ANGUS LOCKHART

John Angus Lockhart was born on 4 January 1894 in Lucknow, Bruce County to Ezekiel Lockhart (1863-1921) and Grace Elizabeth Morrison (1867-1956). John had seven siblings, Mary (1889-1890), Thomas Henry (1891-1973), George Edward (1896-1980), Charles Austin (1898-1915), Agnes Annie (1901-1982 ),Grace Elizabeth (1904-1999) and Mary Evelyn (1906-1983).

Ezekiel farmed on Concession 4 Lots 1 & 12 in Kinloss, Bruce County in 1911. John was a school teacher when he married Susan (Susie) May Haldenby on 19 November 1913. Susie was born on 28 November 1894 in Kinlough, Bruce County to Frederick Cornet Haldenby (1866-1949) and Charlotte Phiniah Hodgins (1870-1945). Susie had nine siblings, Roy (1893-1988), Clarence (1897-1968), Norman Edward (1901-1970), Eva D (1902-1918), Pearl (1904-1982), Mildred Mary (1906-1938), Francis Blanche (1908-1992), Cathrine Jean (1910-1982) and Annie May Beryl (1912-1912).

John and Susie had two children,

John Osler (1914-1996) and
Charles Bryce (1923-1998).

By 1921, John and his family were living in Burlington, Halton County where John was teaching. From 1926 until 1952, John was Principal at the Central Public School in Burlington. John was mayor of Burlington from 1957-1961 - from "Burlington: The Growing Years".

Susie died 16 May 1981 in Kincardine, Bruce County. John died on 2 December 1986.
