ALEXANDER & CHRISTOPHER McDONALD

Alexander McDonald and Christopher McDonald were brothers. Alex was born on 2 January 1886 and Chris was born on 30 October 1890. They were both born in Culross, Bruce County to Alexander McDonald (1838-1924) and Mary Ann Crowe (1849-1939). They had eight siblings, Catherine Cecelia (1873-1938), Mary Leah (1873-1954), Mary (1875-1958), Christina (1877-1928), Anthony (1879-1957), Agnes Jane (1881-1975), Francis A (Frank) (1883-1958) and John Archibald (1888-1964).

Alex married Annie Waugh on 2 September 1914 in Teeswater. Annie was born on 19 October 1889 in Culross to George Waugh (1843-1916) and Janet Turnbull (1860-1928). Annie had nine siblings, William (1881-1881), Catharine (b 1882), William Thomas (1884-1955), Walter (b 1886), Marion (b 1888), Margaret Jane (1891-1921), Rosanna Isabella (1898-1991), Christina (1900-1952) and George Wallace (b 1902).

Alex and Annie had nine children,

Jack (1922-1973),
Arnold,
Kenneth,
Vina,
Grace and
Lloyd.

Alex farmed in Teeswater and also followed his father in his trade as a stone mason,

Much of his work still remains in the community; one of his last few jobs was the construction of the stone gates at the entrance to the Agricultural Park at the James Street entrance, also the stone gates at the Roman Catholic cemetery and the stone fountain in the Lion’s Club Park.

Alex died on 31 October 1972 and Annie died in 1988.

Chris married Edna Lambertus on 7 May 1919 in Teeswater. Edna was born on 17 November 1893 in Teeswater to George Albert Lambertus (1856-1918) and Caroline Riebel (1863-1944). Edna had three siblings, William (1886-1913), Eleanora “Nellie” (1889-1989) and Albert George (1900-1943).

Chris and Edna had two children,

Kathleen and
Lawrence.

Chris was a drayman in Teeswater in 1921. Chris died on 23 July 1938 in Oxford, Ontario. Edna died in 1960. They are both buried in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery, Teeswater.
