MILLER FAMILY

Wiliam George Miller (1863-1922) was born in Guelph, Ontario to Gavin Wilson Miller (1819-1910) and Margaret Orr (1829-1906). Originally from Scotland, Gain and Margaret came to Canada in 1852, settling at Nassagaweyn, Halton County. The family came to Culross in 1873. Gavin bought 200 acres from the Erie Land Company and later a further 200 acres; in total comprising Lots 26, 27, 28 and 29 of Concession 12.

William married Agnes Frame, a school teacher, on 11 December 1908 in Walkerton, Bruce County. Agnes was born on 12 February 1871 in Brant, Bruce County to James Frame (1832-1894) and Elizabeth McCallum (b 1836). Agnes had eight siblings, Catherine (b 1861), Robert (1863-1946), Margaret (1864-1932 Elizabeth (b 1867), Malcolm (1870-1960), Mary (1874-1918), James (b 1875) and Donald (b 1879).

William and Agnes had four children,

Vera Elizabeth (1909-1994),
Ivan Malcolm Stuart (1911-1999),
Margaret Hazel (1912-2001) and
Lula May (Lulu) (1913-1958).

Vera was born on 27 March 1909 in the family home at Concession 12 Lot 27 in Culross. Vera was a school teacher prior to her marriage to James Fyfe Inglis (1909-1996) on 16 April 1938. Vera and James farmed in Howick, Huron County and they had three children. Vera died on 3 July 1994 and James died on 23 October 1996.

Ivan was born on 16 March 1911 in the new family home at Concession 12 Lot 29. Ivan married Anna Doris Spady (1922-2010) who was also a teacher. Ivan and Anna moved to Edmonton, Albert where Ivan worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway. They had two children. Ivan died on 11 September 1999 and Anna died on 11 February 2010.

Margaret married William Bell Inglis (1903-1985) on 16 January 1943. William was a brother of James Fyfe Inglis. Margaret and William moved to Walkerton, Bruce County and had four children. William died on 8 Novemebr 1985 and Margaret died on 13 December 2001.

Lulu trained as a nurse. During WWII she lived with her sister, Margaret and William at 9 First Ave, Etobicoke Twp, York County. Lulu did not marry and died about 1958.

William George Miller died 28 January 1922 at the family home in Culross. Agnes died about 1958.
