ROBERT ORMISTON

Robert Ormiston was born on 10 March 1877 in Haldimand, Northumberland County to James Ormiston (1848-1901) and Mary Elizabeth Eddy (1850-1900). Robert had two siblings, Catherine/Cathlene (b 1875) and Charles D (b 1884).

A James Ormiston obtained the Crown Deed on the northern half (58½ acres) of Concession 1 Lot 21 Culross on 9 September 1865 but it is not certain that this is Robert’s father. Certainly the family were living in Brant, Bruce County in 1891 and Robert was living Walkerton, Bruce County as a student in 1901.

In 1911, Robert was a merchant in Teeswater and then a retail grocer in Leamington, Essex County in 1921.

It is thought that Robert died on 22 January 1923 in Stratford, Perth County; certainly on the death record, his parents match however his occupation is given as auto mechanic.

This family can be found on Ancestry under the title Culross Ormiston Tree.
