MABEL D BRIDGES

Mabel D Calhoun was born on 20 July 1889 in New Brunswick, Canada to William (b 1854) & Clara A (b 1852). Mabel had two brothers, Harry W (b 1877) & Harold E (b 1886) and one sister, Ina Godier (1882-1967). Her father was a general dealer and her mother was a teacher.

On 16 May 1912 Mabel married William Aitcheson Bridges in Saint John, New Brunswick. William was born on 17 January 1886 in Cockenzie, East Lothian, Scotland to Alexander Bridges & Sarah Florence Aitchison. He had come to Canada in 1908 with his mother and two sisters, Bessie & Florence. The couple came west and in 1913 were living at 1026 Ave D N, Saskatoon where William was a bookkeeper with Massey Harris Co and where Mabel worked until their son George A was born in 1915.

William remained loyal to Massey Harris for many years as bookkeeper and later accountant until 1923. Subsequently, William worked as an agent for Metropolitan Life and then as an accountant for Cameron Securities. It is assumed that at some time during this period Mabel died or they divorced as in 1935, William and wife, Mary (Mary Beatrice Laycock (1895-1974)) made a trip to Glasgow.

No records have been found of Mabel’s subsequent life or death.

William died on 24 April 1958 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Their family tree can be found on Ancestry under the title 3rd Ave Bridges Tree.
