THIRD AVENUE METHODIST CHURCH QUILT

A CANADIAN RED CROSS QUILT

Another quilt?

KERSTEN/KERSTIN ANDERSEN/ANDERSON

Kersten/Kerstin Andersen/Anderson was born in 1873 in Denmark and emigrated to Canada in 1912. She ran an Embroidery School and Art Store for many years.

Kersten lived at 233 22nd Ave E, Saskatoon, just round the block from the 3rd Avenue Methodist Church and is likely to have been involved with the making of the quilt.

By 1921 she had moved to 129 2nd Ave N, Saskatoon. In this year she had block and side-line advertisements in the Henderson City Directory for Saskatoon.

Her family tree can be found on Ancestry under the title 3rd Ave Andersen/Anderson Tree.

She appears for several years in Henderson’s directory as Kerstin Anderson but from 1921, her name is given as Kersten Andersen.
