ANNA MARY ENGELBRECHT née McELROY

Anna Mary McRoy was born on 15 July 1884 in Morris, Huron, Ontario to Joseph McElroy (b 1854) & Ellen Corbett (1855-1919). It is presumed that Anna married Louis Haggit about 1906 in Howick, Huron, Ontario and their daughter Annie Catherine Violette was born on 17 August 1907.

Anna subsequently married William Manuel Engelbrecht on 11 August 1910 in London, Ontario. William was born on 17 September 1884 in Amsterdam, Holland. He had immigrated to Canada in 1902. William was sometimes a cook and sometimes a baker. William and Anna had two boys who both died in infancy; Karl August Henry was born on 5 July 1911 and Albert Ernest was born in 1918.

William had a brother Carl who lived in Chicago, Illinois and whom William seems to have visited in 1908 and 1912. In May 1933, William crossed the border at Buffalo, New York working for a removal company Hills.

No further records for Anna, William or their children could be traced.

We have found no Engelbrecht connections to Saskatoon; neither in census returns nor the Henderson City Directories for the period 1917-1919.

This family tree can be found on Ancestry under the title 3rd Ave Engelbrecht Tree.
